Pitch your radiology research ideas at the RCR Annual Conference 2023

The Radiology Academic Network for Trainees (RADIANT) is a collaborative network of diverse trainees from across the UK, supported by The Royal College of Radiologists and the National Institute for Health Research. Their aim is to improve patient care through trainee-led multi-centre research, audits and quality improvement projects.

Are you an academic interested in fostering local research initiatives, or providing academic expertise to budding researchers? Are you a trainee interested in research but don’t know how to get involved? Do you want to expand your research idea into a multi-centre project? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then our interactive RADIANT session at this year's RCR Annual Conference is definitely for you!

We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to invite delegates to learn more about us as we reflect on our network’s achievements, challenges and future directions at our session on Thursday 12 October at the RCR Annual Conference 2023 in Birmingham. We see ourselves as a collaborative network, and we want you to be part of our success by bringing your ideas to the table in our interactive project pitch session!

We believe that research and clinical work for radiologists should go hand-in-hand, and good research skills should be developed from the early stages of specialty training. Various factors including high workload and time constraints mean that it can sometimes be difficult for radiology trainees to find opportunities to undertake research. We aim to help trainees overcome these barriers.

Our project pitch session will give you a taste of how RADIANT works and provide you with the opportunity to bring your own research ideas and experience to a group that can develop them into large multi-centre projects. During this session we will ask delegates to form small groups, brainstorm and develop a research idea, then devise a project pitch to present to the larger group.

In the past when we have run sessions like this it has been a great opportunity for delegates to talk about project ideas they may have previously been unsure about and receive valuable feedback from their peers. It’s resulted in stimulating discussions about interesting and achievable project ideas which we have taken forward.

We invite delegates of all levels of academic experience, from established academics to aspiring researchers, to come and be a part of our interactive session – and to have fun, collaborate, and be part of RADIANT.

The RCR Annual Conference takes place on 12-13 October 2023 at the ICC, Birmingham, and online. Book at early bird rates available until 31 August.
