First FRCR Examination Board (Clinical Oncology)

The First FRCR Examination Board is responsible for ensuring that the examination provides an appropriate assessment of the knowledge of the sciences that underpin clinical oncology practice (physics, medical statistics, clinical pharmacology, cancer biology and radiobiology) as defined in the syllabus section of the Specialty Training Curriculum For Clinical Oncology.

The Board ensures that the examination meets the GMC's "Standards for curricula and assessment systems".

The Board reports to the Fellowship Examination Board through the Examining Board Chair, currently Dr Rachel Cooper of St James’s University Hospital, Leeds.  At any time there will be 12 clinical oncologist examiners and 15 specialist examiners on the Board.  New examiners are appointed by Clinical Oncology Fellowship Examination Board, taking into account the recommendation of the First FRCR Examination Board.
