Faculty Leadership Team (Clinical Radiology)
The Clinical Oncology Faculty Leadership Team is responsible for overseeing the work of the Faculty and its boards, sub-committees and working groups, namely the Professional Support and Standards Board, Specialty Training Board, Academic Committee, Learning Committee and Clinical Oncology Editorial Board.

Faculty Leadership Team: Terms of Reference
The Faculty Leadership Team (FLT) has delegated responsibility from the Trustee Board.
Overall purpose
- The FLT oversees the delivery of the strategic priorities of the RCR in the context of the Faculty and strategically manages the affairs of the Faculty.
- The FLT is responsible for agreeing and implementing policy relating to the Faculty.
- The FLT has oversight of the role and function of relevant sub-committees and working groups.
Responsibilities
The Faculty Leadership Team is responsible for:
- Overseeing the work of the Faculty and any boards, sub-committees or working groups of the FLT so as to ensure that decisions are implemented appropriately;
- Co-ordinating the work of any sub-committees, working groups, or similar bodies within the Faculty;
- Taking decisions within the policy and aims of the Faculty and the RCR as authorised by the Trustee Board;
- Ensuring the Faculty operates within its overall budget;
- Taking action on matters properly referred to it by the Trustee Board;
- Advising the Trustee Board on the conduct and discharge of the work of the Faculty;
- Referring to the Trustee Board relevant matters of importance to the Faculty or to the RCR as a whole.
Sub-committees
The Faculty Leadership Team shall:
- Establish such boards, sub-committees and working groups as are required within the resources approved by the Board of Trustees to enable the work of the Faculty to be effectively discharged;
- Oversee those boards, committees and working groups which have delegated responsibility direct from the FLT, as amended from time to time.
- Ensure that each such group has clear terms of reference that outline its role, function, and delegated responsibility, and that role descriptions are in place.
- Consider proposals for new projects and workstreams from its boards, committees and working groups, as appropriate.
Membership
- Membership of the FLT comprises:
- Vice-President
- Medical Director, Education and Training
- Medical Director, Professional Practice
- President
- Medical Director, Membership and Business
- Such senior staff of the College as shall from time-to-time be determined by the FLT.
- All FLT members are eligible to vote.
- The honorary Officers of the College are entitled to attend meetings of either FLT.
Chair
- The FLT is chaired by the Vice-President of the Faculty. In the absence of the Vice-President, the FLT is chaired by a nominee from among the FLT, in practice another Officer.
- The duties of the Chair include:
- Chairing all meetings
- Agreeing agenda and meeting papers
- Ensuring that the terms of reference are observed
- Engaging all members of the FLT in the work in accordance with the RCR’s values
- Ensuring that accurate meeting records are maintained.
- Representing the FLT at Faculty Board meetings at least twice a year
- Reporting to the Trustee Board on behalf of the FLT
Operation
- The FLT will usually meet nine times a year.
- Meetings may be held by virtual means or remote attendance.
- The FLT will conduct its business in line with RCR values.
- Members will abide by any stated or implied confidentiality that relates to the work of the FLT during or after any period of membership.
- Members will comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2018 as regards processing of any personal data where it is made available to them as part of their work.
- At meetings of the FLT, five members including at least two Officers and one senior staff member will form a quorum.
- For decisions taken remotely, a simple majority of members will be sufficient for decision-making.
- A written record will be produced after each meeting, to be approved by the members.
