The RCR Educational Bursary Fund

Applications are invited from Members and Fellows of the Faculty of Clinical Radiology of the Royal College of Radiologists who hold a substantive post of any grade in the United Kingdom. 

The Bursary is intended for an educational project furthering a radiological interest in the United Kingdom or abroad. Due note will be taken of other sources of funding obtained by applicants. The opportunities eligible for funding with this form of the bursary include, but are not limited to:  

  • Fellowships 
  • Training placements 
  • Postgraduate courses 

The Bursary comprises of awards with two values, 3 awards with a value up to £5000 and 5 awards with a value up to £1000. These should be applied for separately. The larger awards are aimed at funding either a whole project or providing partial funding towards a whole project, while the smaller awards are aimed at funding solely travel and accommodation for a project.  

Applications should comprise:

  • A completed application form, which must be submitted electronically  

The application form requires: 

  • A detailed account of the proposed project including purpose, timing, location(s) to be visited and benefits to be gained 
  • A budget plan, including other sources of funding 
  • Details of two referees, both of which should be consultant clinical radiologists 
  • A brief curriculum vitae 
  • Letter(s) of support from the relevant supervisor and/or organising centre

Application and Assessment Procedure

  • Applications are open from September 2023
  • Applications should be sent by email only to:  to arrive no later than 29 December 2023
  • An assessment panel nominated by the Royal College of Radiologists will consider applications. The decision of the assessment panel is final and binding.
