The Exceptional Contribution Award
RCR Fellows and members: do you know another Fellow or member who has made an outstanding contribution to the work of the College? For example:
- Working as an examiner
- Editing or producing RCR guidelines and reports
- Contributing to audit and quality improvement.
What is the Exceptional Contribution Award?
The award takes the form of a certificate, which is presented at an Admission of New Fellows Ceremony. The RCR’s Honours Committee makes up to five recommendations for this award each year.
Who is eligible for the award?
Any Fellow or member in good standing, and in active clinical practice (exceptionally, we may consider those who retired less than two years before the date of nomination).
Past (not current) RCR Officers can be nominated, but service as an Officer is not in itself considered an exceptional contribution. Presidents of the RCR – whether past or current – are not eligible.
What is considered an ‘exceptional contribution’?
You can nominate someone for a contribution to any area of RCR work that you consider to be exceptional – whether in terms of the length of contribution, or the impact over a shorter period. The contribution should be something expected to have a lasting positive impact on the work of the RCR, and at least some aspect of it should be voluntary. It should not have been already recognised through another RCR award or medal.
How do I nominate someone?
Any Fellow or member in good standing can make a nomination, but you cannot nominate yourself.
Please send the details of the person you’d like to nominate to honours@rcr.ac.uk, along with a short statement (up to 500 words) of the reasons they should receive the award.
We value diversity and would particularly encourage and welcome nominations for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
