RCR response to NHSE’s announcement on new CDCs
“We welcome the expansion of the community diagnostic centres programme, which has the very real potential to boost patient outcomes and survival by improving access to diagnostic imaging and driving earlier and faster diagnosis of disease, while supporting a good patient experience.
Growth in the number of MRI and CT scans completed and reported is evidence of the hard work of radiologists and other NHS staff, at a time where staff working in diagnostics are facing significant pressures. To fulfil the potential of community diagnostic centres and bring maximum benefit possible to patients, it’s crucial we continue to prioritise diagnostic capacity in both CDCs and acute settings. This must include supporting diagnostic staff.”
