RCR response to the Spring Budget Statement

Responding to the Chancellor’s Spring Budget Statement, Dr Katharine Halliday, President of The Royal College of Radiologists, said:

“The Chancellor’s statement today gives us some reason for optimism. Reforming pension policy will help ensure our NHS doctors aren’t penalised for working for longer, which is important and something we’ve been calling for. But pension reform will only partly stem the outward flow of departing doctors. 

“We are in a serious workforce crisis and the need for a fully-funded, ambitious workforce plan remains. While the Chancellor did promise we’d see this plan shortly, it was disappointing not to see workforce funding announced in the budget. We urge the Government to publish this plan without further delay.”
