The report identified benefits arising from the use of structured or pro forma-based reporting, for example more accurate information to aid the patient’s staging and management as well as providing comprehensive data for monitoring treatment and outcomes.

Implementing structured reporting – 13 February 2014 meeting

In the light of the CASPAR project, the College held a meeting for representatives from clinical radiology special interest groups, and representatives from the College’s own clinical oncology Site Oriented eNetworks (SoeNs) (subsequently replaced by the Clinical Oncology Online Forums (COOFs)) to explore the desirability and feasibility of implementing structured reporting for cancer staging. A copy of the programme and report for this meeting are available.

Attendees supported the use of structured reporting for cancer staging and agreed to work together to develop and pilot minimum data sets for the main cancer sites, and to raise awareness of, and support for, structured reporting amongst their members.
